In Germany, there is currently a great shortage of physics teachers and there is no sign of the situation improving. In Korea, on the other hand, there are six times more applicants than positions for physics teachers. This striking difference is surprising, since there are many similarities in the educational as well as the economic systems in both countries. Surely, there are many reasons for this difference, but a natural question that arises in this context is how appropriate the education of future physics teachers is with respect to their profession. In this workshop we would like to bring together experts in educational research and the education of physics teachers from both countries to discuss differences and similarities in the respective educational systems of physics teachers. This exchange of experiences shall help to improve the training of future physics teachers in both countries and to initiate joint research projects in the didactics of physics for universities and schools.
