The symposium “Quantum Computation – state of the art and applications” will be held on Thursday, 5 November 2020, as part of the Berlin Falling Wall activities. The goal of this symposium is (a) to give an overview on the state-of-the-art of quantum computation, especially concerning the technological advances and challenges, and (b) to provide a critical review on the available and potential applications of quantum computers. There is currently a worldwide race towards providing ever better quantum machines and algorithms. This one-day symposium intends to critically assess these activities and give a clear and realistic view on the vision and ongoing research efforts.
